IATF 16949 - Automotive Industry

Organizations within the automotive sector are under increasing pressure to comply with industry standards. Jointly developed by Chrysler, Ford and General Motors, IATF 16949 is based on ISO 9001 but specifically focused on fundamental quality requirements common to auto manufacturers and suppliers.

The guidelines set forth directly affect more than 14,000 "tier one" suppliers of automotive parts, materials and services worldwide. An organization can be certified by a 3rd party certification body or registrar if they are an approved automotive supplier.

The standard makes commercial sense for the suppliers, offering a single, cost-effective audit and certification process which meets the quality demands of the Big 3 auto makers. The standard also helps promote consumer confidence. For many organizations, certification is a condition for bidding on contracts with the leading manufacturers. For others, it can be the pathway to developing new business.

Mr. Saunders can assist your organization to achieve IATF 16949 registration with an approved Certification Body ("Quality Registrar") in a cost-effective and timely manner.
